General information only
The content of this site is patient education. It describes the structures that make a chin, how a complaint is assigned to one of them, and what each route costs in time, recovery and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
No substitute for examination
How much of your own chin is bone and how much is soft tissue, whether your bite is contributing, how much of the area the nerve occupies, and whether a chin that looks short is short at all are findings that can only be established by examining you and measuring. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
Results vary and are not guaranteed
Individual results differ, and no physician and no website can guarantee an outcome. Added volume can be dissolved and does not change bone; a bone operation changes the framework and cannot be undone; and neither changes a bite. Any statement that appears to promise more than that should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it.
If something is wrong after treatment
If you have had treatment to the chin and develop rapidly increasing swelling or pain, spreading redness, fever, a wound that opens, numbness that is spreading, or a change in vision, contact the treating team or seek emergency care immediately rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
